Our Top 5 Scottish Bike Films

Scotland: is there a better place to ride bikes?

We might be a little biased, but seeing our home on show to the cycling world makes us incredibly proud. The roads, hills and trails are our weekend playgrounds and after-work missions. And they’re also the location for some of our favourite cycling projects.

Check out our top 5 (in no particular order), all shot at home in Scotland.

Focus Bikes | Atlas: Made to Lose

Why do we love riding and filming in Scotland? Apart from being our home, it’s the sense of freedom and adventure that few places can offer.

That was exactly what Made to Lose set out to show. Escaping from everything, appreciating the landscape and the memories you make. Filmed at a time when we all longed for a sense of freedom, it was a powerful project for all involved.

Santa Cruz Bicycles | 5010: Get Creative with Your Surroundings

What happens when you still want some Scottish freedom but can’t go any further than a North Glasgow garden?

Turn it into the ultimate fingerbike trail, that’s how.

We may not see much of Scotland in this film, but the concept is very much inspired by our years of filming bike content across the country. And it’s one that’s definitely stuck around as one of our favourites.

Wahoo Fitness | Rab Wardell’s West Highland Way Record Attempt

One man and his mission to smash the West Highland Way FKT.

It’s a special project for so many reasons, not least after losing Rab last year. Few have a story as passionate and uplifting as Rab’s, so to be part of his journey to setting this record was a genuine privilege.

Bikes are gid.

Cervélo | Áspero: The Era of Speed in Gravel

This is the second gravel bike film to feature in this list, and for good reason.

Convincing international brands that Scotland is the place to be for filming is sometimes a challenge (less of a problem now, thanks to Cycling World Champs), so getting Cervélo to unveil their latest gravel bike here was a big moment.

Shot close to home and featuring Stu’s pals, this is how to bring the fun to a bike launch.

Danny MacAskill | The Ridge

Well, it couldn’t be a rundown of our favourite cycling projects without an appearance from our old friend Danny.

The Ridge encapsulated everything we wanted to show. The stunning scenery of Skye, groundbreaking aerial videography, and, of course, some phenomenal riding by Danny.

9 years and 80 million+ + YouTube views later, it’s cemented its place in MTB film folklore.
